I have heard little concerning the mom with a need for pacemaker
implantation. I would not at all be concerned about radiation. The
pacemaker lead is placed under fluoroscopy, once the lead is appropriately
attached and firing (checked with an external pacer) the fluoroscope will be
discontinued while the pocket is made for the pacemaker itself. The entire
procedure takes 15-30 minutes and the fluoroscopy will only be used for a
brief period.
