I have to say that I am glad to read this!  I had not every encountered this
either, until I had my daughter, almost a month ago.  She was born weighing
9#9oz, and has slept snuggled with me from her very first night.  she has slept
for very long stretches also, 6-8 hours at night, then nursing frequently all
day, particularly in the mornings and in the evenings.
I was very worried about it and tried waking her up, which only served to
really tick her off and resulted in her screaming at me for over an hour, then
nursing for about 5 minutes, and when she began to get flooded by
milk--overactive MER--she pulled off and went to sleep, I didn't try that
again.  Well, she is now almost a month old and weighs over 11#, is developing
just fine, shows no signs of difficulty or any problems at all, except for a
persistent yeast problem that we are working on.
Again this is only one case, but I do know how worrisome it can be for the poor
mom, I did have difficulty with getting engorgement, but now it seems that it
just self-expresses at night, and although I wake up with a very wet front, I
am not uncomfortable.  I do produce milk in larger than necessary quantities,
and have never had a problem with lack of supply, I was still pumping for
comfort perhaps monthly when I got pregnant, my son was 2+.
