Last night I was privileged to sing at an ecumenical Thanksgiving service.
One of my fellow singers gave me a piece of paper with some thoughts on it
that struck me as particularly pertinent to LCs and all the battles they
fight all year long.

Today is the US Thanksgiving Day. Other countries' citizens have similar
days. More to the point, I felt the thoughts in what follows is worth
printing off and tacking up where I will see it throughout the year. So....
here it is, for all of you (whether it is your particular country's
thanksgiving day or not).

BE THANKFUL

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire.
If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
Be thankful when you don't know something,
For it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.
Be thankful for your limitations,
Because they give you opportunities for improvement.
Be thankful for each new challenge,
Because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes.
They will teach you valuable lessons.
Be thankful when you're tired and weary,
Because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things.
A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who
Are also thankful for the setbacks.
Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive.
Find a way to be thankful for your troubles,
And they can become your blessings.

Enjoy! (the turkey and dressing and fresh garden vegetables and homemade
pumpkin and apple and french silk chocolate pies, and wonderful spices that
remind us of crisp days and clear nights, the smell of the air after a
cleansing rain, the way the leaves have been stirred during a windstorm,
the love we have for others, the smile of a newborn after a wonderful
cuddle and nurturing feed, the look in a mother's eyes as she gazes at her
babes--regardless of their ages...)

disguised as impossible situations."
