These items struck me:

Ultrasound examinations and many other radiological examinations need to be understood in one way as "snapshots in time". So I too suspect that perhaps a milk ejection reflex may have been in progress and partially responsible for the diagnosis, and that perhaps not all radiologists or other physicians understand this phenomenon as something to consider.

Also mentioned was a generous supply. I recommend that all on this list become familiar with Gonneke van Veldhuizen's excellent article that describes "milk lakes" in her discussion of oversupply syndrome, some problems and solutions.

"Overabundant milk supply: an alternative way to intervene by full drainage and block feeding"
by Caroline GA van Veldhuizen-Staas, International Breastfeeding Journal 2007 2:11.

This is an open access journal. Not only can IBCLC's profit from reading it to understand potential oversupply, but I believe we need to make it known to other disciplines involved in the care of breastfeeding mothers and babies.
