The real problem, as I see it, is that mothers need not only information about good breastfeeding management techniques, but also the confidence to use it appropriately. That is why I think the old LLL adage *Each mother knows her own baby best* is so important.
When I go back to look at my log books, over the years the most common comment I see is *Offered reassurance.*

Mothers nowdays can choose from vast resources of written and cyber materials about breastfeeding and childraising.  No wonder they are confused. One of the most effective things we can do is to help them make sense or what will work for them. The hardest thing we can do is to help them understand that there is no ONE true/right answer to anything, let alone breastfeeding.
