Have a mother with a baby who is not able to extend the tongue over the gum line or when she opens bring the tongue up to the palate or near it. Mother has VERY sore nipples and the baby can not attach for more than 2-3 quick ineffective sucks. Had mother go to peds. Told the peds I felt that the baby did not have the normal tongue tie but a posterior tongue tie.So the peds sent them to an ENT who agreed with what I had said however had never heard of a posterior tongue tie. Advice to the mother was that the baby would need speech therapy in the future and that she would never be able to breastfeed so she could just pump or stop and feed formula.
So I need help Does anyone know of an ENT or someone who can treat posterior tongue tie or just reevaluate what we are seeing. In the Chicago Area . Oh by the wat this was a specialist at our huge childerns hosptial who the mother saw
I think mom would even travel a way to get things going. Catherine Watson Genna do you know of anyone in Chicago?
so If you are in the area PLEASe let me know of some other resources for htis mother.
Thank you
