>>>It is really not good buy in to continually view physicians as the
enemy. So many posts with inept being the prime adjective to describe a
physician. Makes me wonder if some of that reflects in attitude when one
is speaking to the "enemy."<<<

I've been trying to come up with a nice way to suggest this, so I'm glad
you did. I convinced a physician colleague of mine to attend a large
lactation conference last year. That was a big deal. We weren't going to
get any continuing ed credit and it represented an acknowledgement that she
needed and wanted to learn something about breastfeeding. We cancelled two
days worth of patients to go (and seeing patients is how we are paid). She
left after the third consecutive speaker decided to call doctors some
variation on stupid.

When I am talking to docs who know I have an interest in breastfeeding
advocacy, they talk about the "passion" of the lactation community.
Sometimes they don't use such a nice term. And I think if they got a hold
of some of the posts of the last week or so, it would be all that much
harder to make headway with education efforts.

Please use your incredible wealth of knowledge, creativity, spirit and
desire to move forward positively.
