Hi all. Anecdotal advice from a non-medical person. Even though breastfed
for 2 years, I am allergic to most things that grow or breathe - dust,
mold, flowers, trees, grass, guinea pigs, cows, etc (luckily though not my
husband or son!). As my hay-fever season is loooooong (March - November),
I take allergy shots. This has made it possible for me to be antihisimine
(sp?) free throughout pregnancy and nursing. The other nice thing is that
insurance will pay for the shots but not the antihistimine pills. I do
have a nasal steriod spray for those really bad weeks or when I visit my
mom and her cat. If the women have long-term allergies they might want to
consider seeing an allergist about allergy shots.
