Your math is not correct.  The 73% initiation rate is for all moms, not just the 
ones you saw.  To compare initiation with discharge, you would have to have 
discharge numbers for all the moms on the ward, not just yours.  Otherwise, 
you will have to use your 102 moms and calculate the initiation and discharge 
rates for only those.  

At that point the two percentages could be useful in showing that you were 
helpful in maintaining continued breastfeeding, particularly if your initiation 
rate was similar to that of the overall initiation rate and your discharge rate 
was higher than the overall discharge rate.  You can speak to your nurse 
manager or the staff IBCLC, if there is one, about collecting this data as a 
matter of course on all patients.  

I'm not sure what you intended to show by multiplying the two percentages, 
but as a general mathematical principal, percentages cannot be further 
maniuplated to show anything.  Only raw numbers can be maniuplated.
