Yesterday NJ passed regulations that all delivering hospitals become more baby friendly by adopting regulations to help.

These regulations will require each hospital to have written policies and procedures for the Obstetrics unit that address numerous aspects of breastfeeding support, to have an interdisciplinary breastfeeding team, to have doctors and nursing staffs trained to help breastfeeding, to have policies to assess and support the breastfeeding status of woman and infants in the emergency room or any other point of hospital entry and much, much more. Those of you who work in hospitals can be very important resources to help your institutions in implementing these changes

Of course today they passed a lot of bad stuff re: milk banks and milk sharing :-( But these was no Senate vote so they can still be brought down :-) Pat in SNJ
