I have been asked by a friend to post a question for a mom BF twins who are
still not up to birth wgt at six weeks. She has BF before, and is nursing
very frequently (q 2 hrs and more if they will). She has tried everything
anybody can think of short of galactalogues. It may not be a supply
problem. The peds has tried having her supplement with regular abm and
even with undiluted abm concentrate with no success. I believe the babies
have an appt. for extensive tests to see if there is an underlying
metabolic problem. Meanwhile, a physical therapist evaluated the babies'
suck (they have not seen a LC) and said their jaw action is not what it
should be. She has them using preemie red teats for the supplements. I
suggested an appt. to an LC for suck eval, and possible an SNS. Has anyone
encountered this? Any ideas? Thanks.
