If a healthy, term infant is born and will =
not go to breast, in fact does not seem desirous of eating at all due to =
meds, traumatic delivery, belly full of amniotic fluid, or whatever, how =
long should the baby be allowed to go before supplementation is =
necessary.
Daer Friends:
WHO, in their sweet little book "Protecting, Promoting, and Supporting
Breastfeeding", on page 7, say something like "The normal term newborn needs no
other food or drink for 2-4 days while lactation is being established."
I would keep baby in the restaurant, skin-to-skin, and let the baby move
to breast at its own pace.
