Here's a quote from Marsha Sinetar's book, "To Build the life you want,
create the work you love:"

Fritz Perls, the founder of ...Gestalt...therapy, suggests that in the
extreme, resistance and confusion involve the "dummy complex"-a
stupefying neurosis, traceable to unrealistic notions devloped in
infancy, during nursing.
Suppose an infant clings to its mother's breast (or to its bottle) long
after the milk is gone. Imagine the baby won't let go of the nipple,
grows sleepy or bored. It exerts no effort but expects food to come
without exercising its sucking muscles. If baby never figures out that
hanging on to thumb, pacifier or empty bottle doesn't produce a flow of
milk, then baby can easily become someone who expects something for
nothing. Such seems the lot of too many adults (dare I suggest too many
Americans?)....You may wonder how an infant's feeding habits could
possibly affect adult vocction. Early impressions and patterns color our
later worldview-and our productivity. Adults frequently have
inappropriate, unrealistic work habits. We Americans are famous for
craving easy, instant, ever-flowing food (mental or material)....The
wish for instant gratification undermines the strengths of both
individual and collective enterprise.

Please comment on how Sinetar and Perls (at least in her context of
Perls) have confused bottlefeeding and breastfeeding, just as formula
companies would have us believe that their stuff is "like" breastmilk. I
wasn't too pleased with the American bashing, either, I think the formula
companies are multinational....
