Not waiting until 6 weeks and milk production is established is the 
standard, if you read all the drug inserts :-)
Moms who are given BC shots etc at hospital discharge usually have mega 
problems with supply and wean sooner than later.  Drs state that they don't 
trust moms to come back at 6 weeks so they start them at discharge without 
regard for what it does to milk supply.  After all, she can give a bottle 
can't she?  Bah humbug!  Pat, eating leftover Christmas goodies ":-)
