"POWER-PUMP!" So per suggestion she is pumping with a PNS for 10 minutes
EVERY HOUR! Has anyone heard of such a thing? I encouraged her to drop
back to every 2-3 hrs, and then pump for four-five minutes AFTER she sees
the last of the milk in the flanges.<...>

Dear friends,

to the best of mu knowledge and experience in the early postpartum days
frequency is way more important than duration or volume. So
''power-pumping'' seems fine to me, though I wouldn't put a time lock
on it. I would urge to stimulate both breast simultaneously at least
every hour for as long as comfortable.

On the other hand, pumping every hour can be in the way for feeding the
babies often and practicing at-breast techniques. My care-plan would be
to advise mom to be cleared from all activity and duty except for
taking care of herself and her babies, having someone around to help
with learning latch techniques and be in touch (literally) with both of
the twins for as much time as possible. Pumping could be replaced with
manual expression and massage between and around feeding and coaching
her twins.
Warmly,

Gonneke, IBCLC, LLLL in southern Netherlands,
