In response to a letter I sent off to Talk of the Nation after that really
good hour-long discussion about breastfeeding: benefits and politics with
Miriam Labbok and Naomi Baumslag, I got the following "form" reply.  I am
sharing it with all LACTNETters because it has information you may find
useful should you choose to communicate with any NPR program in the future.
 Save this message somehow or print it off for future reference if you
wish.

12/21 _Contintental Drift_ Russell Banks (The tragic story of two parallel
      lives that come together in Florida.)

1/25  _Frankenstein_ Mary Shelley (A 19th century meditation on what it
      means to be human.  This proto-science fiction novel informed 20th
      century genres of horror and suspense.)

2/22  _Smilla's Sense of Snow_ Peter Hoeg (A murdered child, a missing
      ships log, lots of snow: a mystery set in Copenhagen and Greenland
      centered around Smilla, an unusual mathematical and mystical
      protoganist.)

3/21  _Journal of the Plague Year_ Daniel DeFoe (This historic fiction
purports to be the narrative of a London resident during the year of the
Great Plague, 1664-5.

4/25 _The Waste Land_ T.S. Eliot. (Eliot radically changed the way people
thought about poetry with the publication of _The Waste Land_. As "April is
the cruelest month," we'll read it in April.
