Katie
Thanks for the refs on bone loss. I will add them to my file on this.
Just happens that I went to a new (female) family practice doc this
week. She asked what I did and I explained. She said her sis is trying
to wean her 1 yo and did I have any tips? Oy - did she open a can of
worms!
Well, this doc stated "lactation is a huge drain on a womans' body."
And "at 1 yr it is definitely time to wean." Well....that got us into
all kinds of things like weaning age, bone loss, and also meds and
unnecessary weaning. In her defense she did ask me to fax her a bunch
of things re osteoporosis and current refs she could use about meds.
Of course I gave her Tom's book info. Hope I will make a little
difference to the bf families in her practice.
