Diane writes:

Remind  her that *we* gain weight on snacks and so do babies - that if she 
skips that  3 minute snack she's missed an opportunity to get significant 
calories  in.  If she keeps a number in mind, even if it's a higher number, 
she may  still be missing the bigger picture: that nursing is
something to indulge  in often, like chocolate, not something to parcel 
out, like  pills.




~~~ Wise women all, but wow, Diane a particularly wise woman moment. May I  
quote you? I've also taken to heart something that was said earlier on LN: 
that  nursing gives the MOTHER the chance to relax, connect, release very 
helpful  hormones for herself, following up on the "selfish" aspect. Too many 
moms think  of the baby's breastfeeding as a chore they do for the baby, 
rather than a  relationship of mutual gain. I like helping them reframe it if I 
can.
