Hi Rachel,

We have an excellent dentist whom we refer all our kids to (she is a
wonderful breastfeeding mom and gifted-minded professional). I talked your
case over with her.
She tells me that with a child such as the one you describe (multiple
serious allergies) she would consider other things besides cavities. She
says cavities in the front teeth are relatively frequent, but cavities on
newly erupted molars could be a red light for something else, specially in
a child that has no sugar intake. She says it could be a case of
amelogenesis imperfecta. When this disease affects the teeth, it starts out
not looking like cavities, but after a few days of its following it´s
course it´s hard to tell the difference. Says she´d have to see pictures of
where exactly on the molars the lesions are located.

Says she would also look for other systemic illnesses or important lack of
nutrients. And ask grandparents all around if something similar has ever
happened in the family.

She in no way sees how stopping breastfeeding would benefit this child.

Hope this was of help.

Warmly,
Kika
