Sara,

After reading your post re sharing drug information with physicians, it
brought to mind a recent positive experience I had with an OB. Briefly, mom
had thrush, needed Diflucan, OB ordered one stat dose (usual vaginal yeast
tx), I sent copy of Hale's book reference on Diflucan for thrush, OB ordered
appropriate dosage and told mom she learned something new and was grateful
(she's a young practitioner), I replied with note thanking her! End of
story.

I keep in mind and have used Barbara Wilson-Clay's wise approach to
physicians that goes like this,

" Dear Dr. X, Having a very narrow specialization allows me the luxury of
being pretty familiar with the lactation literature. I realize we are
having a divergence of opinion over the safety of breastfeeding while mom is
ill, but I wanted to let you take a look at the references upon which I've
been basing my opinion. Let me know what you think?
Best Regards, Lucy LC."
(taken from Barbara's recent post on LN-stored in my files-effective,
"sharing friendly", respectful approach--thank you to Barbara for her
expertise!) Paraphrasing and modifying Barbar's sample note does work.
