Hi Yaffa:
Did some additional research on migraines today. Apparently, most of
psychobiologic info is theoretical. Has to do with serotonin levels. However,
two books (both 1994, I believe) mentioned a remission of migraines during
pregnancy--especially third trimester (when estrogen is rather high).
Exacerbations were common within weeks of delivery--perhaps we're looking at
breastfeeding as a problem when it is the hormonal changes of postpartum no
matter how the infant is fed. Authors of the books on migraines were
Hertzberg (sp) and Oliver Sachs, MD (yes, same guy who wrote The Man Who
Mistook His Wife...).
Hope this helps. Increase interest as my identical twin sons, like their
father before them, have suffered from migraines since quite young. I could
count on one or both to have a migraine in certain grades (teacher-related),
always on Mondays (first day back at school), after disruption of sleep
schedule during the weekends--definite stress, fatigue relationships.
Karen
