Hi everyone,
I have permission to post this interesting situation for your feedback. One of
our young OBS nurses has shared with me that she has tried for the past few
years to become pregnant with no luck. She is having fertility evaluation done
and one of the things elevated was prolactin. She has even had leakage from
nipples during Breast self exams at one point. She has never had a pregnancy,
never had chest trauma, has had CT scan of pituitary and nothing found. She
has also had the breasts themselves checked out with ultrasound and
mammogram which are normal . All other blood tests are normal. She admits
to having babies in her arms any chance she gets as she longs to have one of
her own. Is it possible that her body is producing prolactin because of her
exposure to and nurturing of these babies? Her fertility specialist is telling her
that the elevated level of prolactin is interfering with her ability to conceive.
She has been taking clomide for almost 1 year. This may be a bit off topic but
I wondered if anyone on the list had information about this.
Reply to me off list if it is felt that this is too off topic.
Thanks in advance.
