Hi all,
This tidbit appeared in the daily newspaper today in Hebrew, so, if it isn't exact, it is only my translating skills, (or lack thereof). I don't remember this being discussed on LN but could have been.

QUOTE Lancet - If BF your first child ended in disaster, it is definitely worthwhile trying to bf your second. This is according to a research that appeared in Lancet (no date).
Most first time new mothers, say the researchers, give up bf by 6 weeks mainly due to their feeling that they do not produce enough milk for their babies. Could be that because of that they decide not to try to bf their second baby. The researchers discovered that there is more likelihood that those that did not produce enough milk for their first, will produce enough to meet the needs of their second child.

The researchers measured the amount of milk produced by 22 mothers in the first week after birth and the 4th week after the birth of their first and second babies. It appears that the mothers produced much more milk for the second baby than for the first. Surprisingly, those mothers that produced the least amount of milk experienced the greatest increase in milk production./ In addition, bfg took less time per meal with the second and the mothers saved (?) an average of one hour per day. Unquote

Anybody any comments?
I would assume that this isn't exactly scientific regarding hormonal changes and biophysical differences between kid 1 and kid 2. More likely, more self confidence second time around, feeding less each feeding because with your second kid you just don't have that luxury of sitting or lying with baby for however long we like. Anybody know any more about this study?
