<< A large (3,000+ births /year) local hospital is getting rid of its LDRPs.
One reason is that more folks can be fit into the postpartum rooms than in
LDRPs; another reason is that so many mothers complained about having to have
their babies with them all the time. >>

I have to take this statement with a grain of salt...........so many mothers
complained about having to have their babies with them all the time.. I
think this might just be the administration's way of distorting numbers to
justify a decision about axing LDRPs. A few mothers complain, most letters
back to administration are praise for maternity service/staff or complaints
about something. So, you are not going to hear from the mothers who are happy
to keep the baby with them. And, doesn't the hospital accomodate the moms who
would rather watch the tube than care for the baby. <G> is there a central
nursery? Seems like scrapping the LDRP for this reason is STUPID. Why are
the mothers in this community allowing this to happen?
A giant step in the wrong direction ,if you ask my opinion.
