sorry, what i meant was, i don't see many patients and it costs me more to
maintain the business than i make. so, its a "pretend practice" because its
more like a hobby than a profession, since that implies being able to make
money, if not a living, at it.

the discussion about how to balance being LLLL and LC is interesting, but it
seems to come down to doing even more work for free in order to maintain
fairness. i know many private practice LCs have other jobs in order to
subsidize their LC work. unfortunately, i didn't know i needed a trust fund
when i started this! in this area, LLLL is rather conservative, and i was
told to retire as a LLLL when i became an LC, which i did, because many of
the mainstays of my practice (herbals for one) are something one cannot
discuss as a LLLL. i know some make it work well, and there have been
articles in various places such as Leaven discussing how other LLLL have
handled it.
