Hi,
I have to agree with Deborah V. about wanting a man to support us. I am
lucky enough to have skills that could support my boys and I if needed
(barely, but that's another story...). All my life I had never wanted to
work outside the home. It is my belief that someone needs to be home with
the kids. And for me that someone is me.
Having worked in child care centers as a teacher, I believe that kids deserve
to be home with their parents. Or at least with a relative who cares. Child
care centers are great for those who have to work to survive, but it is sad
that our society is the way it is.
My hubby loves having me at home with our boys. For him it is a sense of
committment to the family, our kids are being raised by us, not someone else.
Also, he feels that it is important for our older son to have someone to
come home to. I grew up a latchkey child, and it was awful. I wouldn't want
my children to have to grow up like that. Sure, we struggle when it comes to
$$, and the lack thereof. But, life isn't supposed to be easy, is it? :)
So, we do without, but have lots of love running around here which is what
is really important, and the boys have a lot of time with their mom and dad,
which is, IMHO, what makes a great family! Now if my hubby had it his way,
we'd both be home with the boys!
I consider myself to be a 90's mom, too. BF is VERY imortant to me, and my
hubby, and so is raising my children. I do work inside the home to help with
$$, but I am always here for my kods, and they come first. Too bad more
people don't put their kids first. Instead we have the important items
coming first, you know, nice cars nice homes nice bank accounts, etc..
Maybe in the 21st century, we'll get back to what is really important,
Children, family BF, etc. We'll see!
