Well low and behold, things are better. Mom is doing minimal pumping, but
baby was still rolling lip, I asked he to ask her pediatrician about the
baby's oral anatomy, he mentioned , before she even asked that the frenlum
under the upper lip was tight...... he mentioned maybe getting it clipped in
the future... I spoke to mom last night, she told me this, he is a very
conservative doc a so I knew if he mentioned it then it was really tight, I
talked to her about calling the pediatrician back and getting a referral to
an ENT in town that does clips, she did and had an appointment this
afternoon and he did it and the lip rolling has almost stopped! YIPEEE!!!
;-) She is feeling so much more positive about nursing, I have talked to
her every day for days, I thought that this may be the problem esp after the
posts I received from here about it, but I didnt mention it to mom because I
have never seen the under the lip frenulum tight before.... so my gut
instinct was correct. She says the nursing are much better and Jacks magic
all purpose nipple ointment is doing wonders for her very sore and raw
nipples, I love that stuff! So do the moms!

She cut back the finger feeding, actually she stopped finger feeding and
started just dripping it in because baby was getting hooked on the finger
and semi rejecting the breast. This way baby had to suck on mom to really
get to suck, it worked well so far, baby lost a little weight but after
investigation she was only nursing 8 times in 24 hours, so moms goal is now
10---- I think we are about to turn the corner with this one! Oh what a
feeling when something goes right!!!!!!

I will follow her until this is totally resolved. and let you all know!

Cindy
