I suppose we are dealing with a mom's own comfort level, our own comfort
level, consideration for the comfort levels of others. This will vary from
mom to mom, culture to culture. I'm not sure we make many good points for
BF in the US by "in your face nursing."

It still all boils down to "what does mom want to do." If she needs a shawl
over her and the baby, then do it. I'd prefer that any day to her feeling
she has to pump and put it in a socially acceptable container to feed when
she and baby are out in public.

I think many of us have found that new moms are more inclined to be super
modest or concerned about BF in public. When mom and baby get quite
accomplished at BF, mom figures out for herself how to nurse "privately" in
public. I think it helps if I can give her some suggestions on "how-to" if
she asks. Just my two cents, Pat in SNJ
