Do any of you have a suggestion for encouraging a baby who has a recessed chin to open wider? Also what position has worked best for these babies in your experience? We've tried many, mom and baby don't really feel comfortable with any. This is the first time this mom has reached out for help and baby is already 11 weeks. After the first couple of sucks and let down baby basically licks the milk as it comes out of mom's breast. Baby's been gaining OK and is fairly content. Lots of bowel movements and wet diapers (with almost every feed), but is fussy at the breast much of the time because he's not getting a whole lot of milk with his methods. Mom is struggling because she is now just learning how to position and latch at this late in the game and baby doesn't seem to want to learn, nor does mom at times. She often will go back to letting him barely latch and lick up the milk. Suggestions?
