Hello Dear lactnetter,
Thanks to all who have been so helpful so far, even if I didn't get back to
you individually.

I am interested in real numbers on percentage and information of true SNS
triumphs and successes. This will help me and my classmates on gauging our
expectations.

All these funny gadgets are great, but how often do they really help?

Case:
Mother now 7 weeks pp, 5 weeks after weaning
Mother pumped for one week, starting two and a half weeks ago; did not like
it, and stopped "because there's nothing". However, she did not follow my
suggestions about massage before pumping.

Tuesday night: Took SNS to mother and showed her how to set it up and clean
it appropriately. Tried latching baby on, but she screamed incessantly.
Mother agreed to plan of: getting into bed with baby and holding baby close
on bare chest, in relaxed mode.
Also, when attempting to latch baby on with SNS, not to let the baby get
hysterical. I stressed that it is extremely important that the baby not
attach negative feelings to the breast. She should try a few times and
then bottlefeed the baby if neccessary.
Wednesday was a bad day. Same as Tuesday night.

Today the baby latched on for a minute and then let go.
Implored mother to start switching sides whenever baby pulls off the
breast.
I also suggested SNS when baby is sleepy.

Any advice? I would try the rebirthing but this couple does not have a
bathtub!
