I have seen this happen for babies to not gain weight while mother is
pregnant.  Two mothers discovered pregnancy because the baby stopped
gaining.  One mother was tandem nursing, 2mo. old and a toddler.  2mo. old
with poor gain and mother discovered she was pregnant.  In this case the
toddler slowly weaned and baby was supplemented by Dad for a time.   How
about if mother offers solids before baby is hungry as a fun game. Also,
where they are offered can make a difference, ie on a picnic, or under the
table, or in a tent.

A personal experience I have had with my son, was that when  he began
solids his gain became poor.  It turned out he had food allergies.
