I can see where test weighing fits in to a detailed and holistic assessment
of a situation where there are clear problems...as in your example.  It was
crystal clear bf was not going well, from the poor weight gain and even
weight loss, but also from the way the baby fed and the story the mother
told you about what had been going on.

I think our British-based questions were inspired by the notion that test
weighing was sometimes used in situations where there *might* have been a
problem, or even none at all, when research shows this can be undermining
to bf, for many reasons, without having any attendant benefits.  In a case
where bf is just merely surviving, I can see test weighing could actually
prevent its total loss - in the hands of someone who knows what they're
doing.
