Are there any studies out there re: a woman's ability to successfully
nurse after a certain age? I don't recall ever seeing any. I very
successfully nursed one baby (35 weeker) for 18 months (self-weaned 20
weeks into a successive pregnancy) at the age of 39 and my last baby for 24
months (self-weaned)at the age of 41 and never even thought twice as to
whether this would be something odd or unusual. I was not a primip though,
having nursed my first baby at the age of 27. Never had milk supply issues
or any other problems for that matter. I did have secondary fertility
issues, though, accounting for the large gap between numbers one and two,
but obviously this did not affect nursing.
Interesting.
