I had a disturbing experience yesterday regarding a rep from one of the ABM
companies. He has come to see me twice, very briefly, since I began working
at a hospital as their outpatient LC. Both times he handed me a book,
published by Time Life on breastfeeding. It was full of ads for ABM and
althought the publication date was 1995 all the references were at least 10
years old. He of course wanted us to give it to all new mothers.

He asked me to review it, stayed maybe three minutes each visit and left.
 I've never seen him again.

I reviewed the book, marked up the incorrect information and finally threw it
away since he's never surfaced again.

Yesterday an LC student came to do some observations of my work and she
relayed this story to me.

She met this man at a clinic where she works. He told her we were the best
of friends and that I love the book and use it as a reference all the time!
He said I routinely recommend it for all the mothers I work with. I guess
he just went on and on about what a wonderful relationship we had and how
much I supported and used his product.

HELP!

I have no experience with these guys and had planned to tell him to come back
when they developed a product that was truly equal to mother's milk. Now I'm
angry and would like to tell him a lot of other things. Any suggestions?
How does one deal with these people?
