    Lawrence and Lawrence, in the 5th edition, on pages  650-651 say, "The
threat of HIV infection has altered the risk (of cross  nursing). In special
cases, surrogate nursing would be acceptable by individual  arrangement, with HIV
testing in both mother and infant.....At present, it is  significant to
recognize cross-nursing as a viable option, as long as  appropriate infection
precautions are taken. The hospital or physican cannot be  the agent of
arrangement."
