Karen's post suggested the mom ask the nursery staff fortheir research on
what they are insisting needs to be done.

Despite the fact that this is not a premature baby, is there a way for
someone to supply the mom with a copy of Paula Meier's research on using
hindmilk to "beef up" the calories per cc. of breastmilk, for which which
Susan described the procedure:

<A baby with birth wt of 9-1oz, now 6 days old and 10 pounds is getting
his caloric needs met and more! Blow me over with a feather.
I would suggest the use of mother's hindmilk in the hospital. Easily
obtained by cooling her pumped milk and skimming off the top 1 oz., or
mom can pump into a container for about 8 minutes, change containers,
pump for another 5-8 minutes and voila! she will have the hindmilk. >
