I don't know how many of you also received this email to check out this new
product on Dr. Sear's web site but what I read made me want to post to this
group.
They offered a free sample to give feedback, which I'm not personally
interested in. They also claim that LC's were involved in the product and I
also wonder about that. I could not find out the company name who is behind
this product and maybe there is no larger company but I have my suspicions.
What really bothered me about the product was the instructions that the
mother needs to wash her breast with soap and water prior to pumping and then
the concept that everything needs to be kept sterile. They are not saying
this for a sick infant. Even if a sick/micro preemie were the senerio they
would do fine with "clean" and not necessarily "sterile".
Is there any research out there that says pumping and storing in a clean
product puts these infants at any higher risks?
Thanks,
Ann Perry, RN IBCLC
