Hi Regina,

You state, "Absolutely nurses have a place in our profession! I've met many
wonderful RN IBCLCs. The point, I think, is that it seems to be IBLCE's
goal not to give you anything with their certification that your RN
certification didn't already give you anyway. So why do you need it?
That's what makes it an expensive."

This is getting my dander up as well. I totally understand what you're
saying, but I still feel the need to be an IBCLC & a CD in order to provide
the services I do. Just as I felt the need to become a CNOR (certified nurse
operating room) when I worked in that area. I guess I want to be the best in
my area. I want to tell my clients that I do specialize in lactation and
birth and that I am MORE than an RN! I also find that my clients like the
fact that I am an RN as well as whatever I am doing for them, whether I am a
Doula or an LC.

Royce, who's going to get off her soapbox with this one.
