Nikki Lee, thanks for your excellent posts re: research on smell. (And, BTW,
I prefer the smell of breastmilk to that of amniotic fluid myself - those
babies are no dopes!)

Not necessarily BF-related, but then again it might be: I read an article in
The Economist (of all places!) that talked about research linking olfaction
to the immune system. Don't have it in front of me, but there was a
correlation in couples who "smelled right" to each other (pheromone stuff)
and an increased resistance to disease (strengthened immune factors in their
offspring. If indeed this relationship exists (which makes perfect sense to
me), then it makes equally perfect sense that smell, immune factors, and and
attchment should all be connected. That limbic system is important< i've
always been pro-limbic system myself! My dh and I joke that the main reason
we had to fall in love and leave our previous relationships to be together
is that we just "smelled perfect" to each other, and the previous mates
didn't smell right.
