Hi!
My name is Janet and I'm new to the online world. I was told about Lactnet
by a good friend of mine who is an IBCLC. She is helping me learn more
about breastfeeding so that I can become an LC in the future. I have two
children (9yrs and 10mo.) both breastfed, and believe that all women should
be encouraged and supported when they choose to breastfeed. I am also a WIC
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor in Sacramento, CA. Our WIC office has several
Peer Counselors as well as two LC's to help women continue breastfeeding.
Our breastfeeding percentages have risen quite a bit because of the Peer
Counselor program.
I enjoy talking with women about breastfeeding and the benefits it gives them
and their babies, and I have found that the women I talk to are grateful for
the information and support I can provide.
I am very glad that there is this type of forum for breastfeeding support
people. I find that I sometimes need support to continue helping women
because a lot of people still think that breastfeeding and what I do to
encourage women is not very important.
I look forward to sharing with other members of this group!
Thanks a lot!
