Hi Everyone, I have a letter in a newspaper I had to share with all
of you.Apologies if this has been shared here before,I don't know as I have
been "nomail" for some months. The paper is "The Guardian Weekly" published
in Great Britain, (a compilation of articles from, The Guardian, Le
Monde, and The Washington Post) publication date is Sept.7th.1997. The letter
is in response to someone who is delighted to be able to obtain large jars
of Nescafe in China, and she points out that... "Nestle is once again
proving its ability to market its infant formulas." She goes on to describe
how her Chinese friend gave birth to her baby and when she went to visit
the new mother found rooms of new mums with no babies. On asking where the
babies were, the nurse informed her the hospital had a new policy where the
babies were taken from their mothers immediately after bith and taken to the
nursery so they would not be exposed to "viruses" You guessed it, the babies
were given the marvellous dried cow juice and on discharge her friend was
given a can of "the best brand". I would like to quote the whole letter but
I suppose you get the picture!
The writer has given her address as Kunming, Yunnan, China
and if anybody wants further details, email me privately.
What a shame! I felt so sick when I read this. Has anybody else
verified this, is it well documented, how widespread is this practice?
