<< i have a question for you wise ones. A woman with a bf 10 week old has
 some residual roughness from her episotomy. Her OB prescribed estrogen
 cream. The mom is worried that it will affect her milk supply so isn't
 using it. I understand about estrogen containing birth control pills
 affecting the milk supply but would cream in the perineal area affect
 milk supply? >>

Sylvia,

Is this mother looking forward to the benefits of breastfeeding amenorreha?
 The estrogen contained in the cream will be absorbed into the body, and even
in such small amounts, it could very likely be enough to trigger an early
return of her fertility.

The dryness is normal. The sterile lubricants don't have the undesirable
hormonal side effects.
