Katinka, this drug is not sold in the US, so you are right to be thinking
about the basics like half-life because Dr. Hale isn't going to give us a
definitive, easy answer.

Drugs in the benzodiazepine family are L3 - probably compatible. A half
life of 15-28 hours means that 75% will be out of her milk in 30-56 hours
-- and Hale notes one study (I am reading the Diazepam info, half life 43
hours!) that concluded "very low levels of benzodiazepines get transferred
into breastmilk and are unlikely to be clinically relevant in the breastfed
infant."
(The Relative Infant Dose on diazepam is 0.88% - 7.14% -- so if given when
the medication is at its highest the baby would theoretically get between
around .03 mg - .21 mg, and 15-28 hours, half of that...)

Now look to the baby - is s/he thriving and healthy? Do you have any reason
to wonder if the baby will have trouble staying awake/breathing/eating
after taking this medication?

I hope this will help you and the mom make a good decision.
