Hello,
I have a mother of a healthy (21 lb) six month old, who is beginning
to express milk in anticipation of returning to work. She is using a Medela
mini electric pump. Per package instructions, this pump is to be sterilized
in boiling water every day, and washed in soapy water in between uses. Mom is
wondering is this is overkill, since she no longer sterilizes tap water etc.
I told her that I always issue standard "follow package directions"
statements, much like a GP who would prescribe Tylenol, and suggest that a
patient follow dosage instructions. That said, I told her I would toss the
question out to those with more knowledge regarding pumps. Any suggestions?
