In recent years there have been many more breastfeeding babies at ILCA
conferences, and I hope they will be increasingly welcomed and accommodated.
Some attendees do find it distracting to hear baby noises and resent this
when they have paid a lot of money to attend a professional conference. The
Wisconsin Breastfeeding Coalition developed some guidelines to help in
planning conferences and meetings to include breastfeeding support. Go to
the web site for "Building breastfeeding-Friendly Communities in Wsconsin"
at

 http://dhfs.wisconsin.gov/health/Nutrition/Breastfeeding/bffriendlycomm.htm

and click on "Conferences and Meetings" to read these.

We included some sample statements that have been used at conferences to
address the needs of nursing mothers/children as well as those who are
bothered by baby noises. Maybe others planning conferences can adapt these
guidelines or create their own.
