The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has written a book for 
breastfeeding mothers called The AAP New Mother's Guide to Breastfeeding. 
This useful book has been reviewed by the LLLI Book Evaluation Committee 
and subsequently added to the LLLI Bibliography. It appears for sale in the 
latest LLLI Catalogue. La Leche League is mentioned positively as a 
resource several times throughout the text, which also includes the LLLI 
Website address and our US 800 line phone number.

Ross Pediatrics (manufacturers of the formula,  Similac) has purchased a 
quantity of this book. It is our understanding that they will be 
distributed by health care professionals in hospitals and pediatric offices 
to new mothers. These books contain the Ross Pediatrics name and logo on 
the cover. As with other educational materials, hospitals can decide 
whether or not they want to distribute these books.

The LLL logo does not appear anywhere in the book. The books LLLI 
purchased, directly from the publisher, do not contain the Ross logo.

A member of the Board of Directors of LLLI is also an employee of AAP. I 
would like to make it clear that she has no involvement in the commercial 
relationships of AAP.
