The Magnesium wouldnt be absorbed - the skin would act as a permeable
membrane and the mag would serve as hyperosmolar solution which would draw
third spaced fluid across and out of the tissues. I have used sea salt soaks
in the same manner for reducing lower extremity edema in pregnancy and
following birth, to reduce the swelling around the episiotomy. You would
think it would burn, but it doesn't. I would imagine that both solutions
could be used for treating breast swelling and edema as well.
