This is the choice I made. I will be having the surgery in a couple of
weeks while nursing my 15 month old. I knew I would be denied the option if
I shared my lactation status. Out of my own curiosity I called the office
and asked why they did not do surgery on lactating women and they stated it
was because of the rapid weight loss that occurs after weaning?! I don't
think that they where blaming lactation for weight gain, but simply couldn't
imagine that a person would breastfeed long enough to achieve a stable post
birth weight. I explained that my child was nearly a year and a half and
that my weight had not changed in about a year. The technician said that
would be fine and invited me to attend an informational seminar.

Since I *really* want the surgery I am still not disclosing to the office
staff. I can understand hormones playing a part during pregnancy and would
not want to have surgery then and if I was to wait until I wasn't pregnant
or nursing it could be a very long time LOL.
