I would say something like, 'Pumping is a choice, you could do that if you want. The fact that your baby has regained to birth wt already is fantastic  and indicates your body is making plenty of milk and your baby is getting it!!  If you want to pump, a good time is half hour after a feeding early in the morning.  Pump both breasts together for 10-15 minutes. You won't get the amount of milk baby gets for a full feeding.  If you want to know that, come in for an appt in the Breastfeeding Clinic, and we can do a weight before and after a feeding." Susan in Minnesotarn ibclc
