I am an RN, CCE, IBCLC who has worked in Maternal Child Services for about
20 years. I have 3 children - none who are living with me. I am recently
divorced after 23 years of marriage and living on my own for the first time
in my life. I work in a hospital right now - we do about 1200 births a year
- a very conservative envirornment!! I wear many hats - I coordinate CBE, I
am the only IBCLC in the area and do in and out patient consults for the
hospital, I work staff on MBC and L/D when needed.
Now, the question - I would really like to start my own business - focusing
on Women's Services - LC, pump rentals, CBE, relaxation (self-care),
possibly hire a therapist to do mental health counseling. The thought of
this is overwhelming - exciting and scary. I have worked at this hospital
foer 15 years - this feels like another divorce!! But I really feel driven
to assist women in any way I can to have the birth experience and life
experience they want and deserve!! I know many of you have your own
businesses - I am looking for pros and cons - advice, pitfalls, etc.
Please e-mail privately as I know this is not an issue that needs to take up
list space.
